About the Artist

Joe Wilson was born in 1967 into the Cowichan Tribes Native Band and grew up in Duncan, British Columbia. His interest in art began in elementary school and continued throughout his youth. By Grade 12, he was creating his own silkscreen prints, and at age 17, he began selling his carvings at a local Koksilah Hills store. Since 1984, his work has reflected his search for his cultural identity within Coast Salish art. Today, Joe is a respected and accomplished Coast Salish artist and carver whose works appear in galleries and in public and private collections around the world.
